Hettige Don Rumesh Lahiru Thirimanne
- Role : Top-order batsman
- Bat : Left-hand bat
- Bowls : Right-arm medium-fast
- DOB : August 9, 1989, Moratuwa
He is an expert of left-hand batting. Lahiru Thirimanne looks like a promising batsman to the future of Sri Lanka team. He passed his GCE O'L Examination with with as many as seven A Grades. After that, he opted to do GCE A'L in maths stream. He did not complete the exam because he was selected for the Under-19 World Cup in August that year. That remains his greatest regret in life. Lahiru Thirimanne's elder brother too represented Prince of Wales in cricket. Books were always the thing for lahiru. He wished he could carry books to his inter-school matches.
In his team and to the cricket world, he is known for his expert skills with the bat and is applauded for his finishing skills. He is very strong with the back-foot as well as the front-foot. He depnds more on wearing down an attack and after establishing, starts playing freely. He had his own share of problems while facing England swing-merchant James Anderson, but Sri Lanka certainly look at him as a player, who can become the stronghold of their batting line-up.
