Alex Obanda Ouma is a Kenyan player who represented Kenya in the U-17 matches when he was only 14 years old. He has also played first-class cricket for Kenya select. Obanda made his first-class debut when he played for Kenya in the Logan Cup, which was held in the year 2007, and put up a remarkable performance and scored a total of 386 runs with an average of 38.60 runs. He scored a century in the match against Centrals at Kwekwe, which ended in a draw.
Obanda was selected to play for Kenya in the 2012 World Twenty20 Qualifier, but Kenya could not qualify despite Obanda’s splendid performance where he scored 298 runs in 9 matches with two half-centuries. He became Kenya’s top run-scorer in that tournament. In January 2018, Obanda was chosen to be a part of the 2018 ICC World Cricket League Division Two tournament. He scored his first century of the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier tournament against Tanzania in the eastern subregion group, in 2018. Obanda is a top-order stroke maker who is particularly strong in the off side and is currently one of Kenya’s top players.
