Ajinkya Madhukar Rahane is the vice-captain of Indian cricket team in the test format. He is a right-hand batsman who can play at different batting positions in all the cricketing formats. Rahane is the present captain of Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. He made his first-class debut in 2007 and had an impressive average of 62.5 after 100 first-class innings. He has scored more than 1000 runs thrice in his first five seasons. Rahane made his international debut against England in a Twenty20 International match at Manchester in 2011. He is widely praised by Dhoni for his batting technique and commitment. He is often compared with Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman for his disciplined game.
Rahane was born in Maharashtra to Madhukar Baburao Rahane and Sujata Rahane. He is a versatile player who easily adjusts to the pitch and weather conditions. He has performed consistently on overseas pitches. Rahane is an outstanding fielder with strong reflexes and keenness. Moreover, he wears a calm and composed attitude, which makes him a complete package on the field. On 15 August 2015, He broke the record of the most number of catches in a test match with 8 catches against Sri Lanka.
