Aakash Chopra is a former Indian Test cricketer. He played for India from late 2003 until late 2004. He was a defensive opening batsman and a close fielder. His cricketing career began with the Sonnet Cricket Club of Delhi. In the year 2003, Chopra played his maiden Test against New Zealand in Ahmedabad. Due to his low strike rate, he never got selected for ODIs. Chopra played for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the first two seasons of the IPL and was signed by the Rajasthan Royals for the fourth season on IPL.

Chopra is currently a cricket commentator, analyst, and columnist. Sometimes he gets highly critical and is scrutinized by cricket followers. In 2009, he published ‘Beyond the Blues: A First-Class Season Like No Other’. It is an account of his 2007 domestic season. It was critically admired as the best book written by an Indian Test cricketer. In November 2011, he published another book titled ‘Out of the Blue’, which is about Rajasthan's victory in a Ranji Trophy. ‘The Insider’ and ‘Numbers Do Lie’ are the other two books written by Chopra in 2015 and 2017 respectively.
