Stuart Christopher John Broad, commonly referred to as Stuart Broad in the cricketing world, is an English professional cricketer who plays for the English national cricket team. He is currently active in the tests and the ODIs but has retired from T20Is. Broad is a right-armed seam bowler and a left-handed batsman. He holds the record for the second highest score by a number 9 in test cricket, scoring 169 against Pakistan. He is also one of the very few active bowlers who have claimed a test hattrick, a feat he achieved in 2012 versus India. Currently he is England's second highest wicket-taker of all time.
Broad hails from a family with a very good cricketing heritage. His father, Chris Broad, was a former England opener and currently is employed as a match referee. Although Stuart was born prematurely, his physical and mental capabilities did not take any dip as he went on to become a very talented batsman at the youth level. However, with age and his ever-growing height, he made a transformation into a fearsome and successful seam bowler. Interestingly, before turning 17, he had trialed for the England national hockey team as a goalkeeper.
