Eoin Joseph Gerard Morgan, famously called just Eoin Morgan, is an English cricketer and currently the captain of English national team in the limited-overs cricket. Regarded as one of England’s finest, Eoin Morgan holds the record for scoring the fastest ODI 50 by an English cricketer, most runs scored by an Englishman in the ODIs, and most centuries by an English captain in the ODIs. Although he first represented his country of birth, Ireland, in the limited-overs format, he switched to the English national team in 2009 and has since grown to be one of England’s most dependable stars, culminating in him being handed the captain?s armband in 2014, just two months before the World Cup.
Eoin Morgan was born in Dublin and attended the Catholic University School. He was a natural since his childhood and the most important member of the team. He was also interested in hurling, though, not for the mere enjoyment, but because the technique involved in hurling is quite close to that of reverse sweep in cricket, particularly the grip.
