Al-Amin Hossain is a tall, Bangladeshi medium pacer. His career is on the rise since he made his first-class debut for Khulna Division. Hossain played impressive cricket in the domestic circuit and took 45 wickets in 13 matches with an average of 19.26. This secured him a place in Bangladesh team that toured England in 2013. He took 6 wickets for a mere 16 runs in a match of the Dhaka Premier League. Hossain made his international debut in 2013. He took 1 wicket in his Test debut against New Zealand. His best performance is 3 wickets against West Indies in 2014. Hossain joined Bangladesh ODI team in 2014. He took 16 wickets in his first 10 matches and 4 wickets in a match against West Indies.
He refashioned his bowling action and secured a spot in the Bangladesh squad for the 2015 World Cup. It was a miserable tournament for Hossain as he left for home because of a false allegation of breaking the team curfew. In 2016, things became worse for Hossain during the Bangladesh Premier League when he and Sabbir Rahman suffered heavy fines for indiscipline. This led to his absence from the national team.
