 Paine is the youngest-ever Australian domestic cricketer who received a basic A$10,000 rookie contract with Tasmania—an innovation in Australian cricket. After Cricket Australia allowed rookie contracts Paine said, "These new contracts are a great idea; I'm pretty happy about them anyway! It's good to give young players something [along these lines] to show them that they're in the back of the minds of the administrators and the coaches."

 Much like Pat Cummins, Tim Paine’s career has also been hurdled by injuries consistently. The Tasmanian wicket-keeper batsman was lauded to be the next Brad Haddin during the early days of his international career. A fine batsman with several innovative shots in his kitty, Paine was more a white-ball material although he did well across formats in the domestic circuit. He was gradually setting his foot on the first choice backup for the wicket-keeping slot in the Australian team before the spate of injuries started derailing him. His finger bore the brunt of those, requiring multiple surgeries as well.

 Paine has been a vital figure of Hobart Hurricanes' top order in the Big Bash and also participated in the IPL edition of 2009 with Pune Warriors. Paine's determination to come back despite the injuries has been hearalded and Australia will hope that he continues the good work.
